Markivia Holmes Obituary – Shooting News: 31-year-old Markivia Holmes Dies in Fatal Shooting Late Wednesday Night

Family members, friends, and members of the El Dorado, Arkansas community are mourning the tragic loss of 31-year-old Markivia Holmes, a beloved mother, whose life was taken far too soon in a fatal shooting late Wednesday night.

According to the El Dorado Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:00 p.m. on June 24, 2026, to reports of a possible shooting in the East Side area near Main Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found Holmes suffering from an apparent single gunshot wound.

She was immediately transported to Baptist Health Medical Center–El Dorado for emergency care but was later pronounced deceased despite the best efforts of medical personnel.

The devastating loss of Markivia Holmes has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is being remembered as a kind-hearted, caring, and warm individual whose presence brought light into the lives of others. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified 20-year-old Ronald Pierce of El Dorado as the suspect. Police later located Pierce and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Union County Detention Facility and charged with manslaughter and a felony firearm offense.

Pierce remains in custody pending his first appearance in Union County District Court, scheduled for Friday, June 26.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue working to fully determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
