Family members, friends, and members of the Syracuse, New York community are mourning the tragic and heartbreaking loss of 16-year-old Damarion Jones, known to many as “Poppa,” who lost his life following a fatal shooting on Wednesday night near 198 Lincoln Avenue.
According to police, the shooting occurred around 9:13 p.m. when officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, authorities discovered two teenage victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders immediately provided life-saving aid at the scene before transporting both victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Despite these efforts, Damarion Jones was later pronounced deceased as a result of the injuries he sustained in the shooting.
A second victim, a 13-year-old boy, was also critically wounded in the incident and remains hospitalized in serious condition. Medical staff continue to provide intensive care as his condition is closely monitored. Officials have not released additional updates regarding his recovery at this time.
