Jeran Taylor Shooting News: Wilmington Police Identify 16 Year Old Teen Killed in 5th Street Shooting

The Wilmington Police Department has identified the teenager who died following a shooting earlier this week on the city’s west side as 16-year-old Jeran Taylor of Philadelphia.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 8:33 p.m. on Monday, June 23, in the 1600 block of West 5th Street. When police arrived, they discovered that the teenage victim had sustained a gunshot wound and had been transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, Taylor later died from his injuries. Authorities have classified the case as a homicide and launched an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

At this time, investigators have not released information regarding a possible suspect or motive. Detectives continue to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses as they work to determine what led to the deadly incident.
